Facilities Attendants at The University of British Columbia

The Facilities Attendants at The University of British Columbia are integral members of the maintenance team responsible for upholding the cleanliness and orderliness of various facilities. They ensure that spaces are sanitized, supplies are replenished, and the environment is maintained to a high standard. Working flexible shifts throughout the week, they adhere to specific guidelines and schedules while prioritizing safety and efficiency.

Organizational Structure:
Report to the Facilities Supervisor or Operations Manager. Play a crucial role in the university's team, emphasizing the importance of service and support for the community.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Respond to requests and concerns from facility users with a strong emphasis on service excellence and effective problem-solving.
  • Anticipate and meet the needs of users while adhering to established protocols.
  • Perform facility maintenance tasks such as making beds, changing linens, restocking supplies, and cleaning designated areas.
  • Conduct various cleaning activities including dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing surfaces as required.
  • Monitor the premises for safety hazards and report maintenance issues promptly.
  • Execute minor repair tasks and maintenance duties.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by following established safety procedures.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:
Completion of high school education and a minimum of one year of relevant experience. Previous experience in facility maintenance is preferred, along with a recognized Building Service Worker Certificate.
