Main Purpose & Function

The Health Facility Attendant plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and respectful delivery of personal hygiene programs and services at the Gathering Place Health Centre. This position involves assisting patrons in accessing essential services, including laundry, showers, and first aid, while maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise volunteers in the Health Centre, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with Health Centre staff and Volunteer Program staff to address volunteer issues and concerns.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with patrons, volunteers, and community members.
  • Ensure all equipment is in good working condition and report any maintenance needs to the Health Centre Coordinator.
  • Assess clients for lice, scabies, and bedbugs, providing accurate information and coordinating or administering treatments as necessary.
  • Administer basic first aid and maintain relevant records.
  • Perform laundry and shower duties, as well as cleaning and replenishing supplies in showers, laundry room, and office area.
  • Maintain daily services statistics and make referrals to community agencies as needed.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Completion of the eleventh school grade, preferably with experience working with socially and economically disadvantaged individuals.
  • St. John Ambulance Safety Certificate.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills to effectively manage difficult situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including standing, lifting, and bending.
