Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the role of Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calgary. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the faculty and overseeing its academic programs, research initiatives, and administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the faculty, ensuring alignment with the university's mission and goals.
  • Develop and implement academic programs, policies, and procedures that promote excellence in teaching, research, and service.
  • Oversee the faculty's research initiatives, including the development of research proposals, partnerships, and collaborations.
  • Manage the faculty's budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial management.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop faculty members, ensuring a diverse and inclusive academic community.
  • Foster partnerships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and community organizations.
  • Represent the faculty and the university in various forums, including academic conferences, government meetings, and community events.
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in law or a related field.
  • Proven track record of academic leadership, research, and teaching excellence.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Experience in budget management, financial planning, and resource allocation.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
