Dean of the Faculty of Law

The University of Calgary seeks a highly qualified and experienced individual to serve as the Dean of the Faculty of Law. This is a permanent position that requires a strong academic background, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the legal profession.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Faculty of Law in its academic and research endeavors, ensuring that it remains a leading institution in the field.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the Faculty's reputation, research output, and student success.
  • Collaborate with other faculties and departments to foster interdisciplinary research and education.
  • Recruit and retain top talent, including faculty members and staff, to support the Faculty's growth and development.
  • Build and maintain relationships with alumni, donors, and other stakeholders to secure funding and support for the Faculty.
  • Ensure that the Faculty's programs and services are aligned with the University's strategic goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Law or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in academic leadership, preferably as a Dean or Associate Dean.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • A strong track record of research and publication in the field of law.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
