Dietary Support Assistant

Key Responsibilities:
As a Dietary Aide at Woods Park Community & Retirement Living, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to our residents. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Following proper food handling techniques to ensure the highest level of food safety and quality.
- Dates, labels, and stores food properly to maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Keeping work areas clean and uncluttered, and completes scheduled cleaning duties to maintain a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff.
- Maintaining cleanliness of floors in the food preparation, dish room, and storage areas to prevent the spread of infection and maintain a clean environment.
- Supporting all aspects of optimal food service to meet the needs of residents in accordance with infection control, quality management, legislative requirements, and organizational standards.
- Assisting in the preparation of meals, serving meals and beverages, following residents' diets and food preferences, using proper portion sizes to ensure resident satisfaction and comfort.
- Taking orders for the first and second menu choices from residents (by resident name and preference selection, following likes and dislikes) to ensure resident satisfaction and comfort.
- Setting and clearing tables in the dining rooms and washing/sanitizing tables, chairs, and serveries to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Performing other duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the kitchen and dining services.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A current Safe Food Handler's Certificate to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
- Familiarity with the correct procedure for service and handling of food to ensure resident safety and satisfaction.
- The ability to operate institutional cooking equipment, such as dishwashers, conveyor toasters, and meat-slicers, to ensure efficient and effective food preparation and service.
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills to ensure clear and concise communication with residents, staff, and other stakeholders.
- The ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check (applicable to Ontario applicants) and a Criminal Records Check (applicable to British Columbia applicants) to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
