About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Aerospace Application Engineer to join our team at Altair Engineering. As a key member of our pre-sales team, you will be responsible for working closely with our strategic Aerospace & Defence clients to solve complex problems, create value, and drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Account Managers to develop and execute sales strategies, from initial contact to post-sales phases.
  • Deliver technical content to customers, including presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations, to showcase the value of Altair's products and solutions.
  • Establish and maintain long-term relationships with assigned accounts, aligning Altair's solutions with the client's key business initiatives.
  • Identify areas of opportunity at the account to displace competition, add products, add users, and expand usage globally.
  • Contribute to account-based marketing strategies and drive technology deployment and adoption, including partner solutions.
  • Use technical product knowledge to identify customer pain points, assess technical needs, and understand customer infrastructure and engineering workflows.
  • Provide customers with training on Altair's products, as needed, and stay current with the latest software releases.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Full UK driving license and UK passport.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working in an aerospace OEM or Tier 1 Aerospace Supplier.
  • Experience using commercial CAE tools within an engineering environment.
  • Experience using Altair HyperWorks, OptiStruct, RADIOSS, or other CAE simulation software involving real-world, industry-level applications.
  • Familiarity with aerospace processes and standards, such as regulations and MMPDS.
  • Familiarity with numerical solution techniques used in FEA.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites.
  • Experience with programming languages, such as TCL/Python or similar.
  • FEA-based optimisation techniques applied to composite and metallic structures.
  • Experience working in a software company in a pre-sales role.
  • Commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in fluent English.
