GIS Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled GIS Technician to join our team at the Alberta Snowmobile Association. As a GIS Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our organization's mission by utilizing your technical expertise to analyze and interpret geographic data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Generate high-quality maps and related visualizations to support our organization's decision-making processes.
  • Plan and design map content, format, and layout, and compile required data from various sources.
  • Maintain and manage digital databases to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Perform data entry and verification tasks to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Operate analog or digital airborne remote sensing equipment to prepare images, data, and graphic reports.
  • Participate in field checks and verification to ensure data accuracy and quality.
  • Analyze and interpret weather data to support our organization's operations.
  • Maintain climatological databases to support our organization's research and analysis.
  • Observe, record, and transmit atmospheric and weather information to support our organization's operations.
