GIS Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled GIS Technician to join our team at the Alberta Snowmobile Association. As a GIS Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our organization's mission by utilizing your expertise in geographic information systems to analyze and interpret spatial data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Generate high-quality maps and related visualizations to support our organization's decision-making processes.
  • Plan and design map content, format, and layout, and compile required data from various sources.
  • Maintain and manage our digital database, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data.
  • Perform data entry and verification tasks to ensure data quality.
  • Operate analog or digital airborne remote sensing equipment to prepare images, data, and graphic reports.
  • Participate in field checks and verification to ensure accuracy and completeness of data.
  • Analyze and interpret weather data to support our organization's operations.
  • Maintain climatological databases and observe, record, and transmit atmospheric and weather information.

Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field.
Work Term:

This is a permanent position with 30 hours of work per week.
