GIS Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled GIS Technician to join our team at the Alberta Snowmobile Association. As a GIS Technician, you will play a key role in supporting our organization's mission by utilizing your expertise in geographic information systems to analyze and interpret data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Generate maps and related graphs and charts to support our organization's decision-making processes.
  • Plan and design map content, format, and compile required data from various sources.
  • Maintain and manage digital databases to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Process data to conduct basic analyses of trends and provide insights to support our organization's goals.
  • Write specifications and technical reports to document your findings and recommendations.
  • Apply quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and completeness of data.
  • Participate in field checks and verification to ensure the accuracy of data collected.
  • Inspect final compositions to ensure they meet our organization's standards.
  • Analyze and interpret weather data to support our organization's decision-making processes.
  • Maintain climatological databases to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Observe, record, and transmit atmospheric and weather information to support our organization's goals.
  • Operate analog or digital airborne remote sensing equipment to prepare images, data, and graphic reports, maps, and charts.
  • Perform data entry to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of data to ensure the quality of our organization's products and services.
