Job Summary
The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled Project Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of the project team, you will be responsible for assisting Project Managers in the delivery and implementation of school projects. Your primary responsibilities will include providing professional expertise, developing and maintaining project spreadsheets, meeting with users during construction, and establishing and maintaining good working relations with in-house resources, consultants, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional expertise to ensure that projects are progressing and that issues and problems are addressed and resolved.
- Develop and maintain project spreadsheets and tracking for contract documents, change orders, and other submittals.
- Meet with users during construction to ensure users are kept up to date with project details, status, budget, and schedule.
- Establish and maintain good working relations with, and coordinate activities of, in-house resources, independent consultants, and contractors.
- Provide reports and briefings to the Senior Project Manager to update project status, provide cash flow updates, and cost information.
- Perform frequent inspections of work area and site documentation to ensure all policies and procedures are being followed and all work is carried out as per quality, time, and safety regulations/specifications.
Requirements
- Considerable interpersonal skills for clear communication with school jurisdictions, client ministries, consultants, and contractors within a team concept.
- Leadership and negotiation skills.
Qualifications
- Two-year diploma plus 6 years of related experience.
Equivalency
- Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Assets
- Knowledge of School Capital Manual and Education Act.
- Knowledge of Disposition of Property Regulation.
- Knowledge of the Closure of Schools Regulation and Charter Schools Regulation.
- Knowledge of Contract Review Committee Mandate and Guidelines for the Acceptance of Bids.
- Knowledge of bidding and construction legislation and practices.
- Familiarity with the Municipal Government Act.
- Familiarity with program requirements for learning facilities.
