Indigenous Nursing Professor Position at Carleton University

We are seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor, Registered Nurse to join our team in the Faculty of Science, Nursing Program. This is an exciting opportunity for an Indigenous scholar to make a meaningful contribution to the academic community.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses, engaging in curriculum development, and supervising/mentoring students in the entry to practice competencies as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). They will also support the planning, design, and delivery of courses, contribute to ongoing program improvement and enhancement, student recruitment, and program promotion.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Indigenous Health and Wellness, with demonstrated excellence in nursing clinical practice and teaching. They will also possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, as well as a proven track record of advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in the discipline and on campus.
The position requires an active Registered Nursing license in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, a PhD or equivalent, evidence of research and/or recognized excellence in Indigenous Health, and recognized excellence in creation, delivery, and assessment as a facilitator/teacher.
Key Responsibilities- Teach courses in Indigenous Nursing, including lectures, labs, and clinical placements
- Develop and implement curriculum that reflects best practices in Indigenous Health and Wellness
- Supervise and mentor students in their clinical placements
- Contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of courses and programs
- Support student recruitment and program promotion efforts
The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with faculty members, staff, and students to achieve the goals of the Faculty of Science, Nursing Program. They will also be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and respect for all individuals.
Requirements- PhD (or other degree/s as applicable) in nursing or education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Membership in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO)
- BCLS certification
- Up-to-date Immunization Record in adherence to Ontario Immunization Schedules
- Active license in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Excellent experience in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in the discipline and on campus
- Demonstrated teaching excellence
- Demonstrated potential for outstanding teaching contributions
The salary for this position is estimated to be between CAD $80,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
