Job Title: Senior Research Scientist in Plant Resilience

 

The Botanical Society of America invites applications for a tenure-track position as a Senior Research Scientist in Plant Resilience. We seek an exceptional researcher to join our team and contribute to advancing our understanding of plant stress biology and its implications for food security.

 

About the Position:

We are looking for a highly motivated and accomplished scientist with expertise in crop stress biology. The successful candidate will establish and conduct an internationally competitive research program, teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise graduate students, and participate in service roles within the department and academic community.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct innovative research in crop stress biology, focusing on cellular, molecular, physiological, genetic, and/or genomic approaches to address plant adaptive mechanisms to environmental stresses and food security.
  • Establish and maintain a strong research program, with a focus on securing external funding and publishing high-impact research papers.
  • Teach courses related to plant biology and stress biology at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including lab and lecture courses.
  • Supervise graduate students and provide guidance on their research projects.
  • Participate in departmental service roles, including committee work, curriculum development, and mentoring junior faculty members.

 

Requirements:

  • A PhD degree in a relevant field (e.g., plant biology, genetics, biochemistry, or a related discipline).
  • Postdoctoral experience and a strong track record of research productivity, with a focus on crop stress biology.
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • A strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with a demonstrated ability to foster inclusive environments and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in research and education.
