The Procurement Lead - In-Product Software plays a key role in ensuring the successful management of software products embedded in Ciena's products and solutions. This involves working closely with product teams, legal experts, suppliers, and subject matter specialists to guarantee software agreements meet business, technical, and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage software agreement requests from product teams and input them into supplier onboarding and contracts management systems.
  2. Engage with product teams to understand software scope and specifications, providing guidance on agreement structure.
  3. Consult with subject matter experts to guarantee software agreements comply with Ciena's policies, protect against unacceptable risk, and align with business objectives.
  4. Seek legal advice as required by Ciena policy and exercise good judgment.
  5. E nsure Ciena complies with contractual obligations, such as royalty tracking and reporting.
  6. Oversee ongoing relationships with software suppliers and address any issues, audits, or disputes that may arise.
  7. Manage contract renewals, expirations, and terminations for software in Ciena's products.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, contract management, or software licensing.
  • Strong knowledge of software licensing models, terms, and conditions.
  • Good understanding of issues and risks associated with embedded third-party software in commercial products.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive.
