Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Slating Clerk. This role is responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures, communicating with healthcare professionals, and providing administrative support to the operating room team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures using a computerized system
  • Communicate with Charge Nurses, In-House Anesthetists, Surgeons, and Patient Location and Admitting staff regarding procedure times and updates
  • Liaise with Medical Devices Reprocessing Department to ensure case carts are available for surgical procedures
  • Provide reception functions, including answering phones and responding to inquiries
  • Order and dispense blood and blood products during shifts, maintaining accurate records
Requirements
  • Two years of experience as a Unit Clerk, preferably in a surgical or special care unit
  • Previous experience with computerized scheduling systems
  • High school diploma and completion of a recognized Unit Clerk training program
  • Medical terminology knowledge (pass mark 75%)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Competency in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and values
  • Typing/keyboard skills of 30 wpm
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a Windows-based environment
  • Knowledge of International Classification of Disease 10th edition
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to work effectively under considerable stress and maintain accurate performance in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to cover Days, Evenings, and Nights, weekdays and weekends, in a Master Rotation
  • Must be able to respond to critical needs and be available on-site at all times
