Job Title: Compensation Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Compensation Specialist to join our team in Ottawa, Canada. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for analyzing and reconciling budgets, preparing financial and payroll analyses, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, analyze, and reconcile budgets to ensure accurate financial reporting;
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of SAP, Employee Central, and Workforce Central systems to perform various tasks;
  • Audit and reconcile complex files/data using Excel or other tools to resolve issues and provide creative solutions;
  • Communicate with third-party vendors, US payroll/finance department, consultants, government, or other parties to ensure seamless transactions;
  • Perform internal audits and compliance reviews to identify areas for improvement;
  • Assist in year-end remittances, 3rd party vendor payments while analyzing complex data;
  • Reconcile various payroll accounts and clear outstanding items to ensure timely payment;
  • Write and verify journal entries required to update financial statements accurately;
  • Provide prompt, courteous, and accurate service/support to all locations while maintaining confidentiality;
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce or equivalent combination of education and experience is required;
  • Specialization in an accounting-related field is essential;
  • Data analysis background or equivalent mathematical abilities is preferred;
  • Minimum of two years of experience as an Analyst or equivalent is preferred;
  • Experience in the Benefits, Payroll, or Human Resources field is advantageous;
  • Knowledge of Google Docs and Microsoft Office Suite is mandatory (candidates will be tested);
  • Bilingualism writing and spoken English and French is required (candidates will be tested);
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, creative problem-solving, attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills are crucial;
  • Candidates must be able to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision;
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of urgency, resourcefulness, and high productivity.
