About This Role

Vancouver Airport Authority is a dynamic organization that plays a vital role in connecting our province and the world.

As a Heavy Duty Equipment Specialist, you will be part of a team responsible for maintaining and repairing mobile/portable equipment at the airport. Your expertise will ensure the safety and efficiency of airport operations, supporting the continued success of Vancouver Airport Authority.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair emergency rescue and operations vehicles and equipment, including firetrucks, air stairs, and foam trailers.
  • Maintain and repair summer and winter operations vehicles and equipment, such as mowers, backhoes, excavators, and road maintenance equipment.
  • Maintain and repair specialty equipment and tooling.
  • Plan, schedule, and organize work area and facility.
  • Lead activities and share knowledge with assigned apprentices.
Requirements
  • Three years' recent experience in heavy duty equipment maintenance, supplemented by relevant certification (Red Seal or BC Trade Qualification in Truck or Transport Mechanic).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize safety.
  • Valid BC driver's license (Class 1 preferred, minimum Class 3 with air brake endorsement).
