Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Maintenance Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of specialized and heavy-duty equipment, including fire trucks, winter runway trucks, sweepers, chemical application vehicles, mowers, and trucks with diesel and gas engines and various attachments.

You will work closely with our team of technicians, apprentices, and planners to maintain and repair our inventory of 350+ pieces of unique response and heavy equipment designed specifically for the airport environment.

The ideal candidate will have three years' recent experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair, supplemented by a Red Seal or BC Trade Qualification in Truck or Transport Mechanic (TTM) and/or Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (HDET). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills are essential. The ability to work well in a team environment, as well as independently, with little supervision is also required.

A valid BC driver's license (Class 1 preferred, minimum Class 3 with air brake endorsement) is necessary for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair summer operations vehicles and equipment, including mowers, backhoes, excavators, and ancillary attachments.
  • Maintain and repair winter operations vehicles and equipment for snow and ice control.
  • Maintain and repair specialty equipment and tooling.
  • Plan, schedule, and organize work areas and facilities.
  • Lead activities and share knowledge with assigned apprentices.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
