Data Engineer III - Sustainability Technology

At Amazon, we're committed to a sustainable future. As a Data Engineer III, you'll play a critical role in helping us achieve our goal of net-zero carbon by 2040. You'll work with our team to develop innovative data solutions that track and share sustainability metrics for our customers.

We're looking for a seasoned data engineer with a passion for sustainability. You'll have 6+ years of experience in data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence, or business analytics. You'll be familiar with professional software engineering best practices, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence.

As a leader in our team, you'll mentor and guide engineers towards best data development practices. You'll collaborate with users around the globe to define priorities and vision for the group. You'll have experience building data products incrementally and integrating and managing data sets from multiple sources.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 6+ years of data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence or business analytics experience
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle
  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language
  • Experience building data products incrementally and integrating and managing data sets from multiple sources
  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for best practices on data engineering
  • Familiarity with data architectures built on AWS services
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
  • Knowledge of carbon accounting protocols such as GHG Protocol
