Senior Big Data Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Big Data Engineer to join our WW Promotions team at Amazon. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, processing, and managing large datasets across various data platforms. Your expertise will enable us to identify the best set of products to promote, select the most effective promotion type, and learn from past promotions to drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines to ingest and enable analytics at scale.
  • Collaborate with customer teams to understand data requirements and build data products incrementally.
  • Lead design reviews and advise senior leadership on ideal technical solutions to complex business problems.
  • Work closely with other data teams within Amazon to drive business growth.

As a Senior Big Data Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on complex projects, develop your skills, and take on more responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience.
  • Experience with SQL and at least one modern scripting or programming language.
  • Experience mentoring team members on best practices.
  • Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR.
  • Experience building data products incrementally and integrating and managing data sets from multiple sources.
  • Experience with MPP databases such as Amazon Redshift.
