Director of Indigenous Research Initiatives

First Nations University of Canada is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Director of Indigenous Research Initiatives. This role will play a critical part in advancing the National Indigenous Economic Prosperity Institute's (NIEPI) mission to positively impact national economic, entrepreneurship, business, policy, and programming across all sectors.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and execute comprehensive research plans aligned with the National Indigenous Economic Strategy's goals and objectives.
- Define research methodologies, data collection strategies, and analysis frameworks to ensure robust and insightful outcomes.
- Provide leadership to the NIEPI research team through a clear strategic vision and support of that vision through all activities and project plans.
- Manage the research budget for NIEPI by developing, reviewing, and maintaining budgets in collaboration with Senior Management.
- Manage research employees through effective recruitment, selection, training, organization of functions, establishment of procedures and standards, monitoring of performance, and focusing on staff efforts and university goals.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify key research areas and prioritize projects accordingly.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative institute and research environment, encouraging continuous learning and professional growth.
- Allocate resources effectively, manage workloads, and ensure deadlines are met.
- Direct and manage projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and implement appropriate strategies to mitigate risks and maintain project momentum.
- Oversee the production of high-quality research reports, papers, and presentations that effectively communicate findings and insights to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure research is of the highest standards, follows OCAP (where applicable), Indigenous Research Ethics Boards (where applicable), is data-driven, and provides actionable recommendations.
- Collaborate with internal teams and units to integrate research insights into strategic decision-making processes and promote research findings.
- Present research findings to the President, the National Indigenous Advisory Committee, executive leadership, by providing strategic recommendations and insights that advance Indigenous business development and growth and the National Indigenous Economic Strategy.
- Stay informed about Indigenous and non-Indigenous business and entrepreneurial trends, innovations, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes to inform research strategies.
