Position Overview

The University of Regina is seeking an Academic Researcher to support the project "Documentation Centre for Research on Missing Children and Unmarked Graves and Burial Sites Associated with Indian Residential Schools."

This role will involve undertaking and assisting with research tasks, including leading and participating in research in archives, developing an annotated bibliography, and knowledge translation through presentations to communities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and participating in research in archives
  • Developing an annotated bibliography
  • Knowledge translation through presentations to communities
  • Organizing documents and tasks
  • Participating in work meetings with the research team
  • Supporting the research team in research-related tasks
  • Handling emotionally difficult subjects with great discretion

Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a currently registered undergraduate student at the University of Regina
  • Demonstrate solid knowledge of issues tied to residential schools, colonialism, and the current realities of indigenous peoples
  • Training or experience in history, archival work, and/or knowledge translation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in locating journal articles and other academic literature
  • Proficiency in locating official reports and statistics (e.g. Statistics Canada databases)
  • Able to synthesize themes from a wide range of literature

Salary

We offer a competitive salary of $35,000 - $45,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
