Job Title: Pathologist Assistant

About the Role:

Mackenzie Health is seeking a highly skilled Pathologist Assistant to join our team in providing anatomical pathology services. As a Pathologist Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a Pathologist to assist in the preparation of surgical specimen dissection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a workload effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Address and resolve issues in a productive and respectful manner.
  • Exercise sound professional judgment and use best practice guidelines.
  • Contribute to a safe and inclusive environment for all through compliance with patient and staff safety policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate degree in biological sciences, allied health sciences, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years' current Canadian experience working as a Pathologist's Assistant or recent Pathology Assistant Master's Program graduate.
  • Certification with the Canadian Association of Pathologists (CAP-ACP) as a Certified Pathologist's Assistant is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare experience in an acute care environment.
  • Well-developed keyboarding and computer skills with a minimum keyboarding speed of 50-60 wpm and experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated strong decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and adjust to new or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
