Mackenzie Health is seeking a highly skilled Pathologist Assistant to join our team in the Laboratory Services department. As a Pathologist Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing anatomical pathology services under the supervision of a Pathologist.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of surgical specimen dissection, ensuring accurate and efficient processing of specimens.
  • Contribute to safe, quality care by effectively managing workload, addressing issues, and exercising sound professional judgment.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide excellent patient care and maintain a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues through effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in biological sciences, allied health sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Pathologist Assistant in a Canadian healthcare setting, or recent graduate of a Pathology Assistant Master's Program.
  • Certification with the Canadian Association of Pathologists (CAP-ACP) as a Certified Pathologist's Assistant is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare experience in an acute care environment.
  • Well-developed keyboarding and computer skills, with experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and adapt to new or unexpected events.
