Senior Pastry Arts Manager

Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Pastry Arts Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Pastry Department at The Wickaninnish Inn, a premier Relais & Chateaux property.
As a key member of our Culinary team, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the production, decoration, and presentation of cakes, pastries, desserts, and breads.
Key duties will include:
- Ensuring efficient and personalized guest service meeting and exceeding Relais & Chateaux standards
- Participating in menu planning, production, and presentation of items for The Pointe Restaurant, On The Rocks Bar, Driftwood Café, and Special Events
- Supervising team members, including scheduling, training, mentoring, and performance evaluation
- Consulting with guests regarding Special Events or other special menu requests
- Supporting the savory kitchen with mise en place that involves baking and pastry techniques
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will embody the West Coast culture, while still being committed to the art of hospitality and pursuit of excellence. They will:
- Be knowledgeable about, and capable to meet and exceed Relais & Chateaux standards
- Be passionate about their craft, love food, and love fresh ingredients
- Be a team player with proven leadership abilities
- Possess a calm demeanor but have a sense of urgency as required
- Be detail-oriented and thrive in a multi-tasking, fast-paced working environment
- Have good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Have superb time management and organizational skills
- Be able to work AM shifts
- Be creative and innovative yet able to adjust style to suit guest's specific needs and requests
- Be familiar with current Culinary and F&B trends, innovations, and techniques
- Have a well-rounded skill set with proficiency in the production and decoration of cakes, pastries, desserts, and breads
- Completion of secondary school required
- Minimum 3 years in a similar position/level in a fine dining establishment or similar experience
- Cook's trade certification, or equivalent credentials, training, and experience, are required
- Valid Food Safe Certification
Salary/Wage: $75,000 annually
