Job Summary
The Registered Nurse on the Medicine Unit at OSMH is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in accordance with the hospital's mission, vision, and policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans
- Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations to identify patient needs
- Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet patient needs
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
- Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care
Requirements
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is required
- Minimum two (2) years medical experience is required
- Completion of Coronary Care I certificate within the last two (2) years or recent coronary experience is required
- Knowledge of Cardiac and Renal Care is required
- Current certification in BCLS is required
- Successful completion of the Physical Assessment course is required
- Preference given to candidates with Telemetry experience and IV certification
- Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills, professionalism, and respect for confidentiality
- Commitment to develop knowledge, skill, and ability to care for patients requiring CAPD and BIPAP is required
- Must be able to perform all duties in the position description
- Satisfactory work performance and attendance record is required
