MNP, a leading national accounting, tax and business advisory firm in Canada, is seeking an experienced Tax Planning Manager - Indirect Tax Expert to join our team.



About the Role


We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual with expertise in GST/HST and sales tax planning and management services. As a trusted advisor, you will lead multiple client-facing engagements, deliver expertise relating to complex tax issues, manage a portfolio of clients, and provide high-quality deliverables.


The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles, as well as proven people management, relationship building, and leadership skills.



Responsibilities



  • Lead multiple client-facing engagements responsible for GST/HST and sales tax planning and management services
  • Deliver expertise relating to complex tax issues through client interactions, reports, technical work, presentations, and high-quality deliverables
  • Manage a portfolio of clients while understanding their business, key risks, and ways to deliver added value; ensuring their needs are met and that relationships and accounts grow and develop
  • Research new developments in indirect tax, advise on implications of tax and policy changes
  • Participate in the development and delivery of internal Indirect Tax training
  • Accountable for engagement planning and scheduling as well as project financials (i.e., budgets, WIPS, timely billing, collection, and variance recognition)
  • Maintain high quality control and apply specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify, and address issues and refer to various Indirect Tax mandates
  • Network in the local business community, consider business development opportunities, and contribute to the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals to meet client needs
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches in order to improve work processes
  • Mentor team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews
  • Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary
  • Maintain flexibility to work in the office 3 to 5 days a week


Requirements



  • CPA designation
  • 4 to 5 years of relevant public accounting or tax consulting experience
  • Strong understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles
  • Proven people management, relationship building, and leadership skills


What We Offer


MNP offers a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, based on experience, plus additional benefits and incentives.
