Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Attendance Counsellor to join our team. This is a temporary, full-time position (1.0 FTE) that requires proactive advocacy and enforcement of compulsory school attendance.

The successful candidate will report to the Mental Health Lead and the Assistant Manager of Social Work Services. Key responsibilities include supporting student attendance at school, contributing to the development and implementation of educational plans for identified and at-risk students and their families, and working with multidisciplinary teams to promote Student Success.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • University degree in Psychology, Sociology, or a related field, or equivalent
  • Two to three years of experience in children's mental health and behaviour, preferably within an Education environment
  • Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, with strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated mediation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with computer literacy and ability to work with various software programs
Benefits:

This position offers a competitive salary range of $68,663 - $84,641 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. The normal work period is ten months and ten days. Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all full-time permanent employees. New hires will be required to complete mandatory training modules prior to their first day of employment.

About the Position:

This is a temporary position, but it offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team and make a positive impact on student outcomes. The assigned area may be subject to change in the future. Reliable transportation is required, and mileage reimbursement will be provided at the Board-approved rate.
