Support Specialist for Adult Education

Algonquin College is seeking a skilled Support Specialist to join its team at the Woodroffe Campus in Ottawa. As a key member of the Academic Access Centre, you will play a vital role in supporting students with developmental disabilities.
About the RoleThis part-time position requires a minimum two-year diploma or equivalent in Developmental Service Worker Program, BA in Social Work, BEd, special education, or a related field.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a classroom setting and one-on-one with students.
Key Responsibilities- Design, implement, and monitor curriculum for the AAADD program, including Current Events, Integrative Seminar, Experiential Learning/Life Skills, Computers, and Numeracy classes.
- Provide regular assessments of students' development and meet with parents, social workers, and/or counsellors to discuss future goals.
- Attend and evaluate indoor and outdoor activities to promote physical health and development, including field trips.
- Train PT replacement staff, DSW students on field placement, and other hires.

- A 20-hour weekly schedule.
