Position Overview:
The Packaging Innovation team at Colgate-Palmolive serves as the scientific authority in the development of packaging materials and sustainability research. We are seeking a polymer scientist with a strong background in materials development, particularly in creating sustainable alternatives to traditional packaging.
Key Responsibilities:
- Innovation Pipeline: Develop and maintain a pipeline of innovative packaging solutions focused on sustainability and reduced environmental impact.
- External Engagement: Collaborate with external organizations to enhance understanding of packaging trends, sustainability practices, and biodegradable materials.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Global Procurement, Supply Chain, and Packaging Leadership to align with Colgate's sustainability objectives.
- Material Development: Create packaging solutions that meet sustainability targets, emphasizing recyclability and the use of recycled materials.
- Performance Analysis: Partner with Global R&D and Quality teams to analyze packaging performance issues and propose effective solutions.
- Expertise in Materials Science: Utilize your knowledge in material and polymer science to drive innovation.
- Technical Knowledge: Understand various packaging technologies and processes, with a focus on non-plastic materials.
- Independent Research: Demonstrate self-motivation and efficiency in laboratory settings for material evaluation.
- Analytical Skills: Employ critical thinking to analyze data and formulate recommendations.
- Material Characterization: Apply hands-on experience with advanced characterization techniques.
- Effective Communication: Convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Business Insight: Stay informed about industry trends and their implications for the business.

Qualifications:
Required: Ph.D. in polymer science, material science, or chemical engineering with 2+ years of industry experience; or a master’s/bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred: Experience in sustainable packaging innovations and non-plastic materials.
