Job Description

Job Summary

The Director, Finance and Accounting is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial reporting and compliance for Indigo Books & Music Inc. This position requires a results-driven leader who can manage various functional areas of accounting, including reporting, banking, and internal audit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements and management reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Ensure adherence to IFRS standards and compliance with accounting policies
  • Develop and implement processes to improve accuracy and efficiency
  • Lead the internal audit function and maintain internal control narratives
  • Prepare the corporation income tax return and sales tax returns
  • Act as a liaison with external auditors and provide financial expertise to cross-functional teams

Requirements

  • CPA designation required
  • University degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance
  • Minimum 7 years of audit, accounting, and/or reporting experience
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience with increasing leadership roles

Competencies

  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, sales tax, and income tax
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization
