Pharmacy Assistant Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Assistant to join our team at Neighbourly Pharmacy. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality pharmaceutical services to our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with various tasks, including prescription processing, medication preparation, and inventory management.
- Count, measure, and package prescription medications accurately and safely, following established protocols and procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels, conduct stock rotations, and assist with inventory audits as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy area, including medication shelves, dispensing counters, and workstations.
- Perform clerical tasks, such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents, and assist with processing insurance claims and coordinating prescription transfers.
- Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and pharmacy policies, including privacy and confidentiality requirements.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a pharmacy assistant program or relevant healthcare certification is preferred.
- Prior experience in a retail or healthcare setting is advantageous, but not required; on-the-job training will be provided.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks, such as medication counting and labeling.
- Effective organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and pharmacy software systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively with pharmacy staff and contribute to a positive team environment.
Working Conditions:
- This is a full-time position, with standard work hours typically ranging from 32-40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.
- The position may require standing for extended periods and occasional lifting/moving of moderate-weight boxes or containers.
