Job Opportunity: Purchasing Operations Specialist - Technical Component Expert

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year (dependent on experience and qualifications)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Purchasing Operations Specialist to join our team at WeMovePeople. As a key member of our purchasing department, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and complete execution of purchase orders for technical components and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supply Chain Management & Expediting:
    • Ensure purchase order acknowledgments are received from vendors within two business days.
    • Proactively follow up on order confirmations and track delivery timelines.
    • Coordinate the on-time delivery of materials and components, ensuring they align with production schedules.
    • Update ERP/MRP systems with accurate promise dates, acknowledgment statuses, and delivery information.
    • Prioritize critical materials to avoid production delays, collaborating with internal teams to meet deadlines.
  • Vendor Management & Technical Liaison:
    • Maintain regular communication with vendors to ensure timely delivery and adherence to agreed schedules.
    • Address and resolve any delays or issues with vendors, working to negotiate improved timelines.
    • Collaborate with engineering and QA teams to resolve any technical or logistical issues.
    • Conduct supplier visits as needed to monitor the status of critical components and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Quality Assurance & Technical Compliance:
    • Verify that materials and components meet required technical specifications and quality standards.
    • Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to resolve material-related issues.
    • Actively participate in troubleshooting to prevent delays and improve product quality.
  • System Management & Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, deliveries, and vendor communications within the ERP/MRP system.
    • Provide regular status updates and reports to management and stakeholders.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes by identifying and addressing potential inefficiencies.
  • Continuous Improvement & Communication:
    • Attend production and planning meetings to provide status updates on material deliveries.
    • Develop and implement strategies to prevent future delays and optimize supply chain performance.
    • Provide feedback to vendors and internal teams to enhance processes and strengthen relationships.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in expediting, procurement, or supply chain management, with a focus on technical components and assemblies.
  • Knowledge of electromechanical components.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and ASTM specifications.
