Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Care Paramedic to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As a Community Paramedic, you will play a critical role in providing emergency medical services to patients in the community setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess emergency scenes and patients, and provide emergency treatment as needed
  • Transport ill or injured patients from emergency scenes and between facilities
  • Treat patients by administering medications, advanced life support (ALS) airway adjuncts, and electrical therapy
  • Lead ALS crews in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes
  • Ensure that ambulances or other Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicles are properly stocked and equipped
Requirements
  • Non-restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACOP) as an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • Valid class 4 Alberta Operator License or equivalent
  • Five (5) year driver abstract current within six (6) months with no more than six (6) demerits
  • Proof of successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (FARE)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education and/or experience in Community Health Services, nursing, social work, geriatric medicine, palliative medicine, chronic disease management, primary care, community pharmacology
  • Experience collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to achieve the best patient care practices
  • Experience working in and demonstrating a strong understanding of community senior living such as supportive living sites, independent living lodges, and long-term care
