Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Paramedic to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As a Community Paramedic, you will play a vital role in providing emergency medical services to patients in the community setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess emergency scenes and patients, and transport ill or injured patients from scenes of emergency and/or between facilities.
  • Treat patients by administering medications, advanced life support (ALS) airway adjuncts, and electrical therapy.
  • Lead the ALS crew in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes.
  • Ensure that ambulances or other Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicles are properly stocked and equipped.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Advanced Care Paramedic program.
  • Active registration with Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) as an Advanced Care Paramedic.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • Valid Class 4 Alberta Operator's Licence with no more than six (6) demerits.
  • Completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (test taken no more than six (6) months prior to the application date).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education and/or experience in Community Health Services, nursing, social work, geriatric medicine, palliative medicine, chronic disease management, primary care, community pharmacology.
  • Experience collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to achieve best patient care practices.
  • Experience working in and demonstrated strong understanding of community senior living such as supportive living sites, independent living lodges, and long-term care.
