Project Director

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Project Director to lead our construction projects from planning to completion. The successful candidate will have a strong background in project management, construction industry practices, and a proven track record of delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement project plans, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Oversee the activities of direct report entities, including Safety Manager/Engineer, Quality Manager/Engineer, Engineering Manager, Construction Manager/Superintendent, Contract Manager, and Accounts Controller.
- Ensure effective and compliant management and coordination of engineering, scheduling, procurement, material control, construction, and system testing/start-up.
- Establish and maintain a competent resource in each area/department to meet contract requirements.
- Assist with the preparation, review, and modification of cost-to-complete estimates for each phase of the work.
- Develop and maintain effective business relationships with owners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Maintain effective discipline and good staff morale.
- Verify estimates based on detailed review of proposal specifications.
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in a related field of study, such as Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant project experience in a heavy civil major project environment, including a thorough knowledge of construction industry practices, methods, processes, and standards.
- Professional designation, such as Professional Engineer or Project Management Professional, is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience applying knowledge of project accounting, project controls, material management, contract management, subcontract management, safety, and quality.
- Track record of successfully planning and executing major projects on schedule and within budget.
- Ability to communicate in both English and French, as our teams are bilingual.
- Full-time position within an international group offering competitive compensation, attractive benefits, and pension plans.
- Participation in management meetings within North America, valid passport required.
- Work mostly from Project Office, involving significant overnight travel (mainly Eastern Canada) with occasional work from home when possible and compatible with work deliverables.
- Exposure to outdoor construction sites in all weather conditions.
- Possible work in and around live track (trains).
