Job Title: Project Director
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead our construction projects from planning to completion. The successful candidate will have a strong background in project management, construction, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and direct all aspects of construction projects, including planning, organizing, budgeting, and cost reporting.
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget, while meeting quality and safety standards.
- Oversee the activities of direct report entities, including Safety Manager/Engineer, Quality Manager/Engineer, Engineering Manager, Construction Manager/Superintendent, Contract Manager, and Accounts Controller.
- Establish and maintain a competent resource in each area/department to meet contract requirements.
- Promote effective business relationships with owners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Represent RailWorks Corporation or associated Joint-Venture, preparing and presenting reports to the Executive Committee and third parties.
- Provide written correspondence as necessary with clients, designers, partners, subcontractors, suppliers, and other parties.
- Manage personnel, labor planning, and compliance, including union relations.
- Administrate financial tracking systems to monitor project costs and estimates.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in a related field, such as Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management.
- A minimum of 10 years relevant project experience in a heavy civil major project environment.
- Professional designation, such as Professional Engineer or Project Management Professional, is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience applying knowledge of project accounting, project controls, material management, contract management, subcontract management, safety, and quality.
- Track record of successfully planning and executing major projects on schedule and within budget.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in both English and French.
- Ability to apply, interpret, and understand contract law and language.
- Clear understanding of Alternative Project Delivery models, mechanisms, risks, and interface management.
- Proficiency utilizing common business and construction applications, such as Microsoft Office products, Hard Dollar, or JD Edwards software.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and abilities, with innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills in both English and French.
