The Seniors Mental Health program at Alberta Health Services provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation programs for individuals, typically over the age of 65 with psychiatric illness such as dementia, and mood and/or thought disorders.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide personalized care and support to patients in accordance with their individualized care plans.

About the Role

As a Mental Health Support Worker, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs
  • Assisting nurses with the provision of patient care, including assistance with medication management and monitoring vital signs
  • Observing and reporting on patients' mood, health and well-being
  • Maintaining effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals

You will also have the opportunity to participate in organized activities and programs designed to promote patients' physical and emotional well-being.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent education
  • A combination of education and experience satisfactory to the employer

A valid CPR certification is also an asset.

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary range of approximately $62,000 - $82,000 per year, commensurate with experience, as well as opportunities for professional growth and development within Alberta Health Services.
