Job Description

The Renewable Energy System Analyst position plays a vital role in safely monitoring photovoltaic solar power and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The position requires a 40-hour workweek with 5 x 8-hour shifts, potential overtime hours, and occasional on-call requirements on weekends. The position will be hybrid and based in our Cambridge, Ontario office.

  • Daily monitoring of PV and BESS projects using SCADA systems to detect potential issues
  • Supporting the operations group in reviewing technical product manuals and technical requirements for customer proposals
  • Evaluating and reporting on asset performance
  • Investigating and validating system alarms from SCADA systems
  • Assisting Field Service Technicians with troubleshooting
  • Monitoring, trending, and analyzing performance data to identify common or reoccurring faults
  • Collaborating with field services management and supervisors, Integration/SCADA teams to resolve and escalate support issues as necessary
  • Identifying process improvements, including reducing non-essential operations, increasing productivity opportunities, and enhancing safety
  • Supporting the technical services groups in portfolio analysis and providing insights on technical requirements for various asset technologies in BESS and PCS performance
  • Providing clear communication through timely, professional, and accurate communications; written and in meetings
  • Assigning workorders and dispatching field technicians to investigate alarms when required
  • Responding to inquiries from LDC, IESO, NERC, and other AHJ
  • Monitoring project security systems
  • Working independently with guidance when required for resolution of complex situations
  • Completing applicable safety and regulatory/compliance training requirements
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or college diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent related experience and skills
  • Technical knowledge of renewable power generation operations, functionality, and design specifically for Solar (PV) and BESS
  • Proficient computer skills using MS Excel, MS Project, MS Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with or strong working knowledge of SCADA systems and ability to operate
  • Able to read and interpret SLDs, Drawings, Manuals, and Schematics
  • Troubleshooting skills of communications systems
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to adapt quickly
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively
  • Strong work ethic, positive team attitude, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivated, with attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Candidates permitted to work in Canada will be considered

The estimated salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $110,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
