Job Summary

The Energy Performance Enhancement Specialist will drive the improvement of energy efficiency at our Cambridge site in line with our global sustainability plans. This role requires a deep understanding of energy management systems and experience in leading initiatives to reduce energy consumption.

About the Role

This position involves analyzing utilities consumption, monitoring system performance, and creating Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to measure energy usage. The successful candidate will develop and implement projects to reduce energy consumption and work closely with the Engineering, Production, Maintenance, Environmental Health, Safety, and other departments to ensure alignment with company objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage an energy dashboard to monitor gas, electricity, and water consumption.
  • Analyze utilities consumption trends and identify areas for improvement.
  • Create and maintain KPIs to measure energy performance and propose actions to improve it.
  • Develop and implement projects to reduce energy consumption, including but not limited to: utilities projects, production equipment upgrades, and facility changes.
  • Assess project engineering risk and provide technical analysis for energy upgrade projects.
  • Manage consulting engineers and contractors to develop scopes of work and budgets for energy reduction projects.
  • Analyze economic impacts of utility company rate structures, purchase programs, rebates, and incentives.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects focused on energy and water conservation.
  • Provide monthly reports on energy upgrades progress.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Engineering/Engineering Science degree is required.
  • P.Eng is an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in pharmaceutical, food/beverage or consumer packaging.
  • 2+ years of experience in Energy and Utility management.
  • Demonstrated mastery of energy consumption modeling and use of measurement tools.
  • Knowledge of energy consumption optimization methods and technologies for equipment, processes, utilities, and building systems.
  • Able to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical, and P&ID drawings/schematics.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates initiative, problem-solving, and teamwork.
