Library Coordinator

Job Summary:
The Reference, Circulation and Programs Coordinator plays a key role in the day-to-day operations of the Circulation and Reference Services area at Markham Library. This position is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Markham Library's circulation and reference services, ensuring excellent customer service to library users at the Markham Circulation and Reference Service Desk and through YUL virtual services. The Coordinator will lead a team of staff in providing and coordinating excellent customer service, and will collaborate with the Experiential Education Librarian to assist in the coordination of the experiential education program for students in the Markham Library.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Circulation and Reference Services area
Lead a team of staff in providing and coordinating excellent customer service
Collaborate with the Experiential Education Librarian to assist in the coordination of the experiential education program
Liaise with other Markham Library staff and CCSD coordinators, supervisors and managers
Requirements:
Two years' experience in providing related front-line public service in a high-volume area
Some library public service and/or academic research experience preferred
Experience in providing customer service based on User Experience (UX) principles
One year staff coordination experience in a customer service environment
Skills:
Ability to maintain accurate records and work with data to compile reports
Ability to answer general, and arts, film and/or communications-related enquiries clearly and concisely
Knowledge of User Experience (UX) and Experiential Education principles
Ability to troubleshoot and demonstrate the basic use of non-specialized digital equipment
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work in a team, and ability to work independently
Ability to work effectively under pressure of changing priorities and high volume and to deal courteously and effectively with people
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships across relevant areas of the university
Effective oral and written communication skills, including good presentation skills
Effective organizational skills including setting priorities, multi-tasking and working under pressure of high volume
Effective problem-solving skills and good judgement
Intermediate level MS Office Word, Excel, and Powerpoint for preparing various documents, spreadsheets, and presentations
Knowledge and experience in using Web applications to create and maintain web pages
