Job Summary

Vertex is seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the technical execution of geotechnical engineering projects in Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide technical support for pipeline and linear infrastructure projects, including assessments related to roads, pipelines, powerlines, telecommunication towers, foundation assessment and design, oilsands operations, residential and commercial developments, constructed ponds, and linear development crossing assessments.
  2. Conduct engineering assessments for slope instability and create recommendations for geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring of geohazards.
  3. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project success and assist with proposals and cost estimate preparation.
  4. Travel for conducting site investigations in the field when required and review and assess lab results.
  5. Technical report writing and mentoring junior engineers to support geotechnical field activities.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.
  2. 5 to 7 years of professional work experience in the field of geotechnical engineering.
  3. P.Eng. designation in good standing with PEO.
  4. Experience in the use of commercially available software packages for the assessment of slope stability and familiarity with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft products.
  5. Valid class 5 driver's license.
