About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dining Services Team Leader to join our team at Verve Senior Living. As a key member of our dining services team, you will be responsible for supervising, scheduling, and overseeing the delivery and serving of meals to residents and guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of dining room staff, ensuring that meals are served efficiently and effectively.
  • Assist with the recruitment, selection, and training of new staff members.
  • Coordinate catering functions and ensure that all necessary arrangements are made.
  • Handle scheduling for servers in the absence of management.
  • Provide direction and guidance to staff to ensure that dining service meets or exceeds accepted standards.
  • Meet and greet residents upon arrival to the dining room and seat them appropriately.
  • Coordinate ordering and inventory management of food supplies.
  • Provide input to management regarding staff discipline and performance.
  • Participate in the performance appraisal process with staff members.
  • Ensure that meal service is carried out in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate set-up, service, and cleaning of catering functions.
  • Resolve conflicts in the dining room in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of dining room furnishings, china, glassware, cutlery, and table linens.
  • Monitor and maintain proper standards for table set-up, food service, and table clearing.
  • Coordinate and administer resident and guest food chits.
  • Provide assistance to servers as required.
  • Ensure that the dining room, serving station, and bar area are cleaned, vacuumed, and sanitized after each meal period.
  • Participate in department in-services and meetings as required.
  • Comply with all corporate policies and procedures.
  • Complete all required mandatory training and education.

Requirements

  • Minimum of grade 12 education with good oral and written skills in English.
  • Thorough knowledge of food and beverage service, with two years' previous experience in a similar position in a hotel/restaurant or institutional setting.
  • Basic computer knowledge with Microsoft Office.
  • Food Handling Certificates required.
