Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the role of Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calgary. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the faculty and ensuring its continued excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership to the faculty and its staff
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the faculty's continued success
  • Foster a culture of excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and alumni
  • Oversee the faculty's budget and ensure effective use of resources
  • Make key decisions regarding faculty appointments, promotions, and tenure
  • Represent the faculty and the university in various forums and events
Requirements
  • Doctorate degree in law or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role in a university or similar institution
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in budget management and resource allocation
