Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Psychiatrist to join our team at Island Health. As a key member of our mental health team, you will provide inpatient and community consultation services on Salt Spring Island.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consultation for patients admitted to the 19-bed Lady Minto Hospital on Salt Spring Island.
  • Outpatient treatment at Salt Spring Island Community Services, providing consultation to Severe and Chronically Mentally Ill, Urgent Short Term Assessment and Treatment, and Drug and Alcohol programs working with the case managers.
  • Providing general Psychiatry services to adults in the community working with an inter-disciplinary team.

Requirements

The ideal candidate would be a qualified psychiatrist with comfort practicing in a small community with less psychiatric infrastructure. Psychological mindedness, self-reflective capacity, and working understanding of boundaries are assets in a setting when one meets one's patients on the street every day.

Working in a small community provides the opportunity for a deep sense of belonging, being an active part of a warm and supportive island, and living in a great place to raise a family.

Benefits

  • May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including (subject to change):
  • Recruitment Incentive: up to a maximum of $10, (pro-rated based on FTE)
  • Relocation: up to a maximum of $15, (amount based on location relocating from)
  • Flat fee: $12,.72
  • Fee Premium: 7.98%
  • CME: $3,/annum year 3-4 and $6,/annum after 4 years in the community.
