Calian Group Ltd. is proud to continue its long-standing relationship with the Department of National Defence (DND) to provide healthcare services to the Canadian Armed Forces. Through the Health Care Provider Contract, Calian employs healthcare professionals across Canada who are integral to supporting the health and wellbeing of our military members.

We are seeking a Psychiatrist to join our team at the CAF Health Services Centre, Montfort Hospital, Ottawa, ON. The successful candidate will provide mental health support to serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces, working 3 days a week during clinic operation Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat a variety of mental health conditions for CAF members
  • Provide psychiatry consultation services to Canadian Armed Forces personnel
  • Advise on the outsourcing of psychiatry services to alternative providers
  • Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary mental health team in case reviews
  • Prepare detailed written psychiatric assessment reports on referred patients, including recommendations for a treatment plan, and participate in the implementation of the treatment plan by providing psychotherapy, prescribing appropriate somatic therapy, and generating patient medical records to support the multidisciplinary team
  • Provide expert advice on mental illness or disorders to primary care providers to assist them in the identification, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with mental health disorders
  • Create and maintain patient records
Mandatory Qualifications:
  • Licensed and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in Psychiatry (FRCPC)
  • Experience providing pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy with individuals
  • Experience in working with mental health patients with an emphasis on depression, anxiety, and trauma disorders
