Dietitian - Diabetes Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Dietitian to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a member of our Primary Health Care team, you will play a critical role in providing expert nutrition advice and support to individuals living with diabetes and other chronic health conditions.
Reporting to the Primary Health Care Lead, you will be responsible for providing a range of services, including health promotion, illness prevention, screening, treatment, and monitoring of people living with diabetes. You will also be required to collaborate with other healthcare professionals to increase community capacity as an educator, researcher, and clinical practitioner.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nutrition and dietetics, with experience working in a primary health care setting. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and healthcare teams.
About You- Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition or related field
- Dietetic internship or equivalent experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a primary health care setting
- Current membership in the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association
- Annual continuing education to maintain Nova Scotia license
- Two years of clinical experience preferred
- Membership in Dietitians of Canada preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification required
- Designation as a Certified Diabetes Educator preferred
- Experience with group education and community outreach
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
- Familiarity with principles of Motivational Interviewing
- Exhibits creative problem-solving ability; Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines and committees to achieve excellence in patient care
- Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint), email, and internet
- Ability to work well independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Effective research and analytical thinking skills
- Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred
- Permanent part-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
- Shifts include days, nights, and weekends (or other specific hours of shifts)
- Travel between sites may be required
$32.94 - $43.42 Hourly
