About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dietitian to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a member of our Primary Health Care team, you will play a critical role in providing expert nutrition advice and support to patients with diabetes and other chronic health conditions.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in nutrition and dietetics, with a focus on community health and chronic disease management. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients, including health assessments, interventions, and follow-up care.

About You
  • Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition or related field
  • Dietetic internship or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a related field, with a focus on community health and chronic disease management
  • Current membership in the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association
  • Annual continuing education to maintain Nova Scotia license
  • Two years of clinical experience preferred
  • Membership in Dietitians of Canada preferred
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required
  • Designation as a Certified Diabetes Educator preferred
  • Experience with group education and community outreach
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with principles of Motivational Interviewing
  • Exhibits creative problem-solving ability; Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines and committees to achieve excellence in patient care
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint), email and internet
  • Ability to work well independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective research and analytical thinking skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred
Hours
  • Permanent part-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Shifts include days, nights and weekends (or other specific hours of shifts)
  • Travel between sites may be required
Compensation and Incentives

$32.94 - $43.42 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
