About the Opportunity

The incumbent will provide expert knowledge and skills on a wide range of issues from advocacy to assessment to case management. As a member of a primary health care (PHC) Diabetes Centre, the PHC Dietitian provides a range of PHC services, including health promotion, illness prevention, screening, treatment, and monitoring of people living with diabetes. Expertise may also be required to support people living with other chronic health problems, community development, and advocacy.

The incumbent will be required to collaborate with others to increase community capacity as an educator, researcher, and clinical practitioner. These services are provided within a holistic, client/family-centred care framework.

The incumbent will provide health assessment, interventions, and appropriate follow-up in accordance with acts, regulations, policies, standards, guidelines, mission, and objectives of the Registered Dietitians of Canada, the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association, the Department of Health and Wellness - Province of Nova Scotia, and the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

About You

We're looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a PHC Dietitian. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition at a recognized university, a dietetic internship, and at least one year of related experience. Current membership in the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association is required, as well as annual continuing education to maintain Nova Scotia licensure. Two years of clinical experience and membership in Dietitians of Canada are preferred.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines and committees to achieve excellence in patient care. Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint), email, and internet is also required.

Hours

This is a permanent part-time position, with 75 hours bi-weekly. Shifts include days, nights, and weekends, with travel between the two sites required.

Compensation and Incentives

The hourly rate for this position is $32.94 - $43.42. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
