This role at Westlake Chemical Corporation offers the opportunity to leverage your expertise in quality management and operational excellence to drive business growth and profitability. We are seeking a seasoned leader to develop and execute short-term and long-term operating and maintenance plans, establish performance standards, and ensure compliance with company policies.

About the Role

  1. Lead the implementation and execution of health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure regulatory compliance and promote a safe working environment.
  2. Collaborate with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and drive process improvement initiatives.
  3. Mentor and coach supervisors on best practices to achieve operational goals, emphasizing safety, human resources, quality, and production.
  4. Develop and direct production activities, setting priorities that balance effective operations and cost factors, and coordinating efforts with procurement, maintenance, and quality control teams.
  5. Analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  6. Drive a data-driven culture to inform decision-making and optimize resource allocation.
  7. Develop and implement operating methods and procedures to eliminate operating problems and enhance product quality.
  8. Foster a collaborative environment by engaging employee input to improve manufacturing performance, safety, product quality, cost control, productivity, and environmental protection.
  9. Plan, develop, and implement strategies to meet departmental and company objectives within agreed-upon budgets and timeframes.
  10. Implement methods to balance competing interests and make timely decisions based on available data.
  11. Reassess production schedules and priorities as needed due to equipment failure or operating issues.
  12. Consult with engineering personnel to modify machines and equipment to improve production efficiency and product quality.
  13. Oversee recruitment, new hire processes, and employee training programs to maintain required staffing levels.
  14. Work with management on succession planning, identifying individual development needs for team members.
  15. Ensure accurate inventory management, timely material movements, and accurate measurements of material usage through oversight of raw material, in-process, and finished goods inventory control processes.
  16. Direct the activities of each department, ensuring optimal results within their area of responsibility, and maintaining a safe working environment for all employees.
  17. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Green Belt Certification required.
  • 5-7 years of supervisory/management experience in a 24-hour manufacturing operation.
  • Proven capability in planning, organizing, implementing, and measuring programs and projects; strong problem-solving, analytical, and computer skills.
  • Able to work effectively and positively with all organizational levels, be proactive, and an innovator.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and lead change in a manufacturing environment and drive success.
  • Demonstrated empathetic people management skills and a balanced approach to problem-solving.
  • Working knowledge of statistical process control and lean manufacturing methods.

Salary Range

The estimated annual salary for this position is $120,000-$180,000, depending on qualifications and location.
