About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Kinesiologist to support a community-based health initiative focused on wellness and health programming. As a key member of our team, you will work collaboratively with other provider groups and services to offer programming and support to our clients.

Reporting to the Provincial Chronic Disease Management and Wellness Health Services Lead, Primary Health Care, you will utilize behavior change methods and client-centered approaches to provide physical activity counselling and facilitate physical activity wellness programs. Your excellent leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment will be essential in this role.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing physical activity programs for clients with chronic diseases
  • Providing individual and group education and facilitation using adult education, self-management supports, and behavior change principles
  • Collaborating with other healthcare providers and community groups to offer programming and support
  • Traveling to various community locations throughout your zone to deliver programs and services

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from an accredited university and Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) designation. Previous experience working in a Primary Health Care setting or community-based team is required. A valid driver's license and daily access to a reliable car for travel are also necessary.

Preferred qualifications include experience in partnership development, stakeholder collaboration, and community development. Fluency in French is also an asset.

Hours

This is a permanent full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation and Incentives

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary of $30.23 - $35.28 per hour. In addition, they may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
